Independence {from the internet} Day Weekend

I made a bold decision to enjoy the long holiday weekend and take a vacation from the internet. I set out upon the forest preserves, winding roads and carnivals of the suburbs armed with only my film cameras and my iPhone. Eight rolls of film later, the weekend has come to an end and it is time to catch up on emails and the like, but not before dropping off a few highlights from my adventures via the Instagram app on my iPhone 4. I can’t wait to share the film images in the next week or two! And if you have a chance, I highly recommend unplugging, even if for just a day.

Funnel Cakes! I need to unplug, in the worst way 🙂

The funnel cake was tremendously awesome. 🙂

I highly recommend unplugging. After spending a week without tv and with just brief, daily 5 minute email and internet checks when I went to the life {as an artform} workshop in Minnesota, I just felt so much more at peace. I’ve gradually let a lot more of that white noise and negativity slip back in, but after a weekend “unplugged,” I’m definitely going to make staying away from that constant contact and stimulation a priority. And really, the internet can only handle about 5 minutes of me a day, anyway. Ha!
